Start of new term - Monday 6th January 2025

3 January 2025 (by admin)

Some important details about the start of the new term on Monday 6th January.

Happy New Year 2025!

We hope that all pupils and their parents / carers have had a good Christmas break and an excellent start to 2025.

We are looking forward to welcoming all pupils back to school for the new term on Monday 6th January.

As it is a new month we of course have new authors of the month.

Our EYFS / KS1 author for January 2025 is Emma Yarlett.

Emma Yarlett is an award-winning author, illustrator and typographer based by the sea in Falmouth.

She has written a number of books for young children including Monster Post, Dragon Post and Nibbles the Book Monster.

If you have Netflix you can watch an animated adaptation of one of her books Orion and the Dark (please note this film has a PG certificate and may not be suitable for some children).

Our KS2 author of the month is Andrew Cope author of the Spy Dog series of books. This author was suggested by Y6 pupils.

Don’t forget our Times Tables Rock Star competition between year groups is taking place until Monday morning. Year 4 are the clear leaders at the moment with Year 5 in second place but there is still time for them to be overtaken!

To take part visit  https://play.ttrockstars.com/ and log in – if you need a reminder about your child’s login details email: headteacher@millfield.staffs.sch.uk

Thank you for your support of helping us improve attendance and making sure that pupils attend school everyday unless they are ill and unable to attend.

The start of a new term is an opportunity to make a fresh start and we hope that we can continue to improve attendance so that it is back in line with national averages.

4A were our attendance champions for both autumn term 1 and autumn term 2 closely followed by 3I - will we have different champions this term?

We look forward to seeing all pupils back at school on Monday 6th January for the start of another important term of learning
