School News Update - Friday 4th October

4 October 2024 (by admin)

Details of events and learning over the next weeks and our weekly attendance update.

Cross Country Events

Unfortunately, all the planned cross country events are on HOLD at the moment - the first two events (Y3 and Y4) have had to be postponed and this has pushed back the other planned events - hopefully we will have new dates soon.

Tempest Photography

Tempest Photography will be in school on Wednesday 24th October to take individual pupil photographs as well as pupil sibling group photographs.

Parent Consultation Evenings

Our Parent Consultation Evenings for the Autumn Term 2024 will take place on:

Wednesday 23rd October between 3.30pm and 6.30pm

Thursday 24th October between 3.30pm and 6.30pm

These evenings will provide an opportunity for parents / carers to meet with teaching staff to discuss all aspects of their child's learning including the start they have made to the school year and how they can be supported to achieve further.

Bookings for these evenings will open on Monday 7th October at 4.00pm.

These bookings can be made through our SchoolCloud booking system - https://millfieldstaffs.schoolcloud.co.uk/

Further booking details will be shared on Monday.

Attendance Update

Well done to 4A who were our attendance champions for the week beginning 23rd September with an attendance of 99.0%.

Our whole school figure last week was 96.4%

There are a lot of coughs, colds and stomach bugs around at the moment so we know this good level of attendance is going to be hard to maintain but we have made a positive start to this school year in terms of attendance – thank you for your support with this.

Pupil Flu Vaccinations

Pupil vaccinations will take place on Friday 25th October when the NHS School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS) will be in our school to administer this year's flu vaccine to pupils.  We are still waiting for details to send out to parents / carers regarding the NHS online electronic consent form system where you will be able to complete the consent form(s) for your child's vaccination(s).

School Book Fair / Authors of the Month

Thank you for your support for our school book fair - special thanks to those staff who helped organise this event this week.

We will let you know as soon as possible how much was raised to buy more books for our school library thanks to your purchases at the fair.

Our authors of the month for October are in EYFS / KS1: Dapo Adeola (an illustrator primarily and has worked on a wide number of books) and in KS2: Sharna Jackson (author of a mystery series, featuring Nik and Norva, a pair of sisters, who solve crimes on the Tri Estate, in South London).
